Clean now. Smile later.

When it comes to your teeth, we believe that prevention is key to optimal oral health! At Ocean Park Dental, we help you preserve your natural smile by teaching you and your family how to prevent the onset and/or recurrence of dental diseases, decay, and other conditions.

Although we do great work here at Ocean Park Dental, the real work starts at your bathroom sink. Good oral hygiene, a balanced diet, and regular visits to see one of our dentists are important to maintaining good oral health.

If you want to be a dental keener (who doesn’t?), make sure you receive regular dental exams, bi-annual cleanings, and x-rays. Sealants and fluoride are also great preventative treatments that keep your smile bright, healthy, and happy.

Your first visit to Ocean Park Dental is the most fun. You’ll meet with one of our dentists and his assistant to share your dental history. We’ll get to know you and your teeth and gums, while you get to know us and our bad dental jokes (we apologize in advance). This time together helps us better understand your personal dental needs.

We conduct a thorough intro-oral exam including:

  • Diagnostic x-rays
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Gum disease evaluation
  • Tooth surface examination
  • Existing restoration examination

After the tests, it’s time to clean! Our professional dental cleanings include scaling, root planning, plaque removal, tartar removal, and polishing by one of our Registered Dental Hygienists, then a dental exam by one of our dentists.

Dental radiographs (x-rays) give us the information we need to diagnose oral conditions and plot a course for preventative dental care. The x-rays help us spot problem areas and abnormalities under the surface so we can nip them in the bud before they become serious problems later.

Dental x-rays may reveal:

  • Abscesses or cysts
  • Bone loss
  • Cancerous and non-cancerous tumors
  • Decay between the teeth
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Poor tooth and root positions
  • Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line

Finding and treating dental problems at an early stage can save you time, money, unnecessary discomfort, and most importantly, your teeth.

We want your smile to last a lifetime. It’s possible – if we work together.
That means, when you come to see us, we give your teeth and gums the best possible care. And when you go home, you do the same. Every day.

Our team will work with you to help you build effective dental care into your daily routine, including:

  • eating balanced meals
  • reducing sugar intake
  • using dental aids to optimize cleaning
  • brushing correctly at least twice a day

If you have questions about your home care, contact us any time. We are always eager to help our patients create better preventative routines at home. Together, we can make your smile last forever!
